Mr Dutt and his joke on the Constitution of India

Its official...Munnabhai is set to fight elections for Loksabha from Lucknow representing the Samajwadi Party. Unless something is wrong with my memory, was he not arrested a ton of times with links to the 1993 Bombay bombings? I remember reading in my 6th or 7th grade social sciences text book that once you're convicted by the court you cannot contest in any government elections. And his dear wife Manyata Singh, headed a campaign on boycotting the general elections as a voter after the Bombay seige last november....I am confused! Is India a big joke for these people?

I think we all are equally responsible for making our country what it is. Corruption, the lethal problem of India, is a result of at least some contribution from all of us. If people are conveniently ravishing our constitution and laws, we are the ones who should be blamed for it. We all point out the bads of this country but most of us find it difficult to take some time out of our schedules to cast our vote in the time of election, leave aside doing something for the country, we are not even ready to elect the right people who are willing to do it. A bunch of IITians created a small party and decided to join the politics few years back, but nobody cared to vote them. This germ of corruption and careless attitude towards the nation is in all of us. I am not saying that we are born corrupt, but we follow the flock, the flock of sheep.

Our behavior is totally governed by our surroundings and the atmosphere around us. We don’t mind jumping traffic lights or bribing people there in India but I see Indians here in US, and I have seen them following all traffic rules, casting their votes, watching presidential inaugural speech and living a disciplined life. Sometimes I wonder how same people behave so differently here. Without much deviating from the subject, I just want to say that we all have joined the league of corruption in India and if we want India to be looked at with respect and honor, all of us need to be disciplined and honest. Most of us, if not all.

I have been reading your posts and comments on different blogs and I like the way you articulate your thoughts. So, please don’t take anything at heart. No offence intended.
